BLACKOUT!

all is fine on the West Coast. My friend in New Jersey says they have power but NYC is still out. They lost it in Jersey for 30 minutes or so.

This might be the darkest night in NYC since 1965 or so since the last big blackout. People might actually see the stars and Mars tonight.

Go on over to CNN.com and take a look at their story linked to from the text “Who’s running?”
Interesting list of people though again with an important ommision.

Davis
Schwarzenegger
Huffington
Simon
Flynt
Coleman
Bustamante
Ueberroth

Who’s missing? That’s right, the guy who came in 3rd in the last election. Camejo.
Lazy reporting. I bet you he will get more votes than Colemand and Ueberroth put together.

Well, it’s official. California has turned into a circus over this Recall issue.
While I agree with the idea of a recall mechanism in general, this seems to be a misuse of it. Hopefully it will teach both the Democrats and the Republicans to put forth candidates that people actually want to vote for next time. The choices last time were Davis, Simon, and of course Camejo, the Green Party Candidate. Camejo actually came in 2nd in San Francisco, beating Simon for the #2 spot. You would have not really heard about that reading the local papers though.

I find it interesting all this press devoted to the joke candidates, and I think Arnold is half in and half out of the joke candidate bin, but you will will hear almost nothing about the Green Party, though I bet you they will have a strong showing.

I’m noting no on the recall, but will be putting in my choice for governor as Peter Camejo on the recall ballot in case it does pass.

i got the telescope out last night and looked at the moon and mars. i
actually could do it from the living room table due to where mars and the
moon were.
the moon was amazing, best i have ever seen it through my telescope,
with the barlow and without. so bright it gave me a head ache.
mars was interesting ,really big, about the size of jupiter usually is,
but since it was so low on the horizon it was wavy from the heat. i
couldn’t get a still image of it. if i waited till 2 am, it might have
beeb better. i think i am going to have to get out of town to get a good
shot of it.
its a 4″ scope, a little too small.

saw this page today, it’s the California Department of Elections list of who is most likely going to be on the recall ballot for Governor.

It has 344 official and unofficial names on it already and there is maybe a week left before everything is final.

http://www.ss.ca.gov/elections/recall_cand.htm

That’s going to be some ballot.
I can see that Michael Jackson is running, as well as an A. Davis (who I think is going to win since I am sure some number of people will think he is grAy Davis. Or maybe he will come in last because of that.

Visited Boston a week or so ago. Nice city. Humid. Didn’t get any fried dough since they guy I usually visit had moved his stand, had to settle for Soft Serve with sprinkles at the Amtrak station. Amtrak was awesome, can’t see why they want to shut it down.
