This is the San Francisco that people think exists when they move here. Hot and sunny, blue sky no clouds. E verybody in shorts or sundresses or melting in business suits. I’m looking out my office window wishing I was going to the beach like everybody I passed this morning was.

Listening to my music this morning “Wannabe” by the Spice Girls came up. I can’t freaken beleive I paid good money to see the Spice Girls Movie. I think that’s grounds for commital in some states.

My iBook’s Hard Drive died last week, lightnight storm I think. It also has been going for almost 3 years straight 8-12 hours a day. Time for a rest. Got it replaced w/ a 40G by “We Fix Macs” new store on Howard Street. They seemed to have done a pretty good job. They had it for the weekend and now I’m back up and running. I am glad I had a good backup.

This week I had a problem with my iBook battery. It suddenly lost much of its capicity, telling that it only could charge enough to last 20 minutes or so.

Using the scripts I found on the web I was able to figure out the capacity of my battery and found in a couple threads that sometimes the internal computer that the batteries have can get confused.

Apple has a pointer to recalibrating your battery. Basically you pull the plug, let the computer use the battery up and go to sleep. Once its asleep plug the computer back into the wall power.

The instructions are unclear whether you should let the computer stay asleep or can you use it? I just let it sleep over night and when I checked it out this morning it was back to over an hour of capacity. That’s still ess than it used to be, but not bad for a almost 3 year old battery.
