More on the ipaq Familiar install. I had problems following the post install instructions due to the ipkg upgrade step causing a SIGSEGV

This page

http://dudu.dyn.2-h.org/nist/ipaq.php#ipkgFix really saved me a ton of head scratching and pain. It describes in a nicely formatted way, how to get ipkg upgraded to a working version.

On a second note, I figured out how to get the Linksys CF 802.11b wireless card to work. It was required to pull the CF sleeve off, then pull the wireless card out. Reinsert the sleeve and then insert the card. Bizzare I know, but it works repeatably. I read that tip on the Familiar email archive.

Busy Busy.
Went to Vegas last weekend for a friends party. Tired this week, but it was worth it. I’m more tired and sore from the X-TREME! (everything in nevada is X-TREME it seems) mountain biking. If you had asked me on friday if I had even gone mountain biking before, I would have answered, “yeah, tons of times”. Not anymore. I have gone mountain biking exactly ONCE. My left side is one big bruise, for some reason I favored my righthand side as I had to “lay the bike down”

Been playing w/ Linux on my old iPAQ PDA. Upgraded to Familiar 0.7.2 w/ Opie (from http://www.handhelds.org

It installed fine after some problems with the serial cable speed (my USB to Serial adaptor tops out at 57k, I need 115k. All seems to work now, it’s much nicer than .6 which is what I had before. The bigest problem is getting the wireless 802.11b adaptor to work. For some reason it stopped recognizing it. I’ll have to play with it more tonight when I get some time.
