Secret rain

Monday, August 23rd, 2004

I woke up this morning to one of those mornings where all the evidence of a huge rain shower is there, but one who I appearently slept through. I can look out my window to twin peaks and see the rooftops with puddles of rainwater as well as see the streets awash.
Living in the city, I like a good late night rain to wash all the weekend away.

Had a good ride in on my bike down Market, it was quiet. August is like that. Everybody is on vacation so there seems to be less cars on the road.

The cat got me up before the alarm today. Not as dependable as the alarm clock, but much cuter, and harder to ignore.

Worked a lot this weekend, interesting stuff. It will fun to demo it in the new couple of weeks.

Went to Pacifica for Rainbow and Vincent’s going away party. Sad event but the weather was amazing. You could see the Farallons like they were right next door. I wish I brought my telescope, maybe next time.

lunch time rut: broken

Wednesday, August 18th, 2004

tried someplace new for lunch today, even though i was going to end up eating at my desk anyway. i’ve been eating far too many cheap though yummy burritos from the corner burrito place. ended up at a new sandwich shop today, got suckered into the full sized sandwich against my better thoughts, but i think it has entered the rotation. only a block away. not bad.

dance class continues. 1-2 slow slow, is all i can think of afterwards. counting is a process that once it gets started is hard to stop.
just thinking of it now, and it has started up again.

i want to get a new laptop. i have a decent dell laptop for work, though win2k causes me pain in a security and devices aspect. i have an ibook at home thats a couple years old that i love but its getting a little long in the tooth (backlight getting old, as well as screen size) i’m hoping Apple will release a new ibook or powerbook with a larger number of pixels (my dell has something like 1440×1280 which is just about right)

frost and fire

That’s San Francisco in a nutshell. remember to bring your jacket. Yesterday my psuedo-stepbrother, K and I went over the hill to land’s end to take a hike. We left the heat of the Mission for the Cypress trees and blowing whisps of fog. It was actually a nice walk, not too chilly. Did the tunnel at Sutro Baths afterward. Came across a dead seal, we smelled it first. Nature.

The Cliff House is being redone, part as old timey, part cerci-1999 cyber dotcom. Strange. The little always forgotten diner next to the Cliff House is probalby making more money than they ever did since they are the only game in town these days while the Cliff House is closed.

The (non-natice) Ice Plant was blooming, I love the smell. K says she can’t smell it at all. It must be like asparagus.

Went to LinuxWorld this week, interesting stuff. Saw tons of folk in my neighborhood afterward bringing their booths home.
